What is pay transparency?
From June 2026, pay transparency will become an unavoidable issue for workplaces across Europe and Hungary. Directive (EU) 2023/970 on pay transparency must be transposed by the Member States, including Hungary, by 7 June 2026.

Who does pay transparency apply to?
By 7 June 2026, every Hungarian company, regardless of organisational size, must be prepared to comply with the principles of pay transparency. Job advertisements will be required to include pay information relating to the position. It cannot be ruled out that the national legislator will also introduce minimum requirements for companies with fewer than 100 employees.
